  • 1975: One semester at the State University of St. Petersburg (Thomas Mann and the 19th century Russian literature)
  • 1977: Master's Degree of Hungarian and English (The title of the diploma work: Thomas Mann and the 19th century Russian literature)
  • 1979: Master's Degree of Dutch Studies
  • 1991: "Candidate of Literary Science" degree from the HAS (Hungarian Academy of Science)  (Title of dissertation: The novel Van de koele meren des doods [1900]by Frederik van Eeden as an artistic synthesis of the problems in19th century Holland)
  • 2001: Habilitation degree of literature, Eötvös University of Budapest.

 

Positions:

  • 1977-1984: Magvető Publishing House (publisher's reader and editor of contemporary English and Dutch prose)
  • 1982-1987: Lecturing at Eötvös Loránd University (history of Dutch literature, part-time on contractual basis, assistant)
  • 1987 -: Full-time teaching at Eötvös Loránd University (Dutch language, literature and culture, 1991-1995 assistant lecturer, 1995-2005 associate professor, 2005- full professor)
  • 1998-2002: Széchenyi Professor of Dutch literature (Dutch Department, Eötvös University)
  • 2000- : Head of PhD program in Dutch Literature, Institute of Germanic Studies, Department of Dutch Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Eötvös Loránd University
